Cognitivists often use the analogy of the mind as a computer. Information is the input, which the mind processes. This processing involves organizing information, connecting it to existing knowledge, and storing it in memory. Learning, then, is not just a change in behavior but a change in a learner's mental structures.

According to constructivism, they will each come away with a slightly different understanding because their prior knowledge, experiences, and beliefs are unique. Learning is a personal and social activity. We build knowledge through exploration, problem-solving, and collaborating with others. Thinkers like Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky were pioneers in this field, emphasizing how children build knowledge through interaction with their world.
