The trade-off is that their raw translation might not always be as consistently fluid as a dedicated NMT engine, as translation is just one of their many skills.

Think of NMTs as a bilingual dictionary and Generative AI as a personal language tutor.

So, which tool should you use? The answer depends on your goal. For a quick, accurate translation that reads naturally, start with DeepL. For obscure languages or a fast gist, turn to Google Translate. And when you want to understand the mechanics of the language and get interactive feedback, a generative AI model is your best choice.
