Introduction to ServiceNow AI

Smarter Workflows

ServiceNow is known for making business operations run smoothly. It connects different departments, from IT to HR, on a single platform to manage and automate tasks. But in recent years, a new layer has become central to its mission: artificial intelligence.

Instead of just being another feature, AI is woven into the fabric of the ServiceNow platform. The goal isn't just to automate workflows, but to make them intelligent. This means predicting issues before they happen, giving employees smarter tools, and resolving customer problems faster. AI is the engine driving the next level of efficiency and automation.

ServiceNow is a powerhouse workflow automation platform that drives AI initiatives, enables core business transformation, and offers more than 180 products and services to connect and unite the backbone of modern organizations.

Building AI Capabilities

ServiceNow's AI journey didn't happen overnight. It's been a deliberate process of both building its own technology and strategically acquiring innovative companies. This dual approach allows the platform to integrate cutting-edge AI capabilities directly into its products, ensuring they are tailored for enterprise-level challenges.

This evolution has shifted the platform from offering simple automation to providing predictive and proactive solutions. Early AI features focused on tasks like categorizing support tickets. Now, the platform leverages sophisticated AI to manage complex, multi-step processes across an entire organization.

Now Assist and Agentic AI

Two key pillars of ServiceNow's AI strategy are Now Assist and Agentic AI. Think of Now Assist as a smart co-pilot embedded throughout the platform. It uses generative AI to help employees, developers, and customer service agents perform their jobs more effectively. It can summarize complex information, suggest code, and draft responses, freeing up people to focus on more strategic work.

Now Assist for Creators offers AI-driven suggestions for code and workflows, helping developers build and automate faster.

Agentic AI takes this a step further. While Now Assist helps humans, Agentic AI empowers the system to act more autonomously. These are AI agents that can understand a goal, create a plan, and execute multi-step tasks to achieve it without constant human intervention.

Agentic AI systems offer a new way of using artificial intelligence allowing them to act on their own and pursue goals in changing environments.

For example, instead of just flagging a potential IT issue, an AI agent could diagnose the problem, identify the affected systems, find a solution, and apply the fix. This represents a significant shift from passive assistance to proactive problem-solving, which is central to ServiceNow's vision for the future of work.
