What Makes an NFT Unique?

A Non-Fungible Token, or NFT, is a type of digital asset that represents ownership of a unique item. Think of it like a digital certificate of authenticity. The key word here is "non-fungible."

If something is fungible, it's interchangeable. A $10 bill is fungible because you can swap it for any other $10 bill, and you still have $10. It doesn't matter which specific bill you have.

Non-fungible items are one-of-a-kind. A famous painting like the Mona Lisa is non-fungible. You can't swap it for another painting and have the same thing. An NFT is like a digital version of the Mona Lisa, it's a unique token that can't be replaced with another.

The Technology Behind the Token
