Know Your Tiers

In Need for Speed Unbound, not all cars are created equal. The game organizes its vehicles into five distinct performance tiers to keep races competitive. These tiers, from slowest to fastest, are B, A, A+, S, and S+.

Each race event is locked to a specific tier, so you can't bring a supercar to a rookie race. Understanding what each tier represents is fundamental to building a garage that can handle any challenge the game throws at you.

The Anatomy of Speed

A car's tier is determined by its overall performance, which boils down to three core attributes: top speed, acceleration, and handling.

Top Speed is straightforward: it's the maximum velocity your car can reach. This is king on tracks with long, open straightaways where you can push the engine to its limit.

Acceleration measures how quickly your car gets to that top speed. Quick acceleration is vital for blasting off the starting line, recovering from mistakes, and punching out of tight corners.

Handling is all about how your car takes a turn. A car with good handling can maintain more speed through corners without sliding out or needing to brake hard. On technical, twisty circuits, good handling often beats raw power.

Climbing the Ladder

Each tier represents a significant jump in performance and difficulty. As you move up, cars become faster, more responsive, and much less forgiving of mistakes.

B Tier: This is where you start. B-tier cars are relatively slow and manageable, making them perfect for learning the driving physics. Their modest speeds mean you have more time to react, and they tend to have balanced handling.

A and A+ Tiers: Welcome to the middle ground. Cars in these tiers are significantly faster and more powerful than their B-tier counterparts. They offer a great balance of all three performance attributes, making them versatile for a wide range of events. The step from A to A+ is a noticeable power boost, demanding more skill to control.

S and S+ Tiers: This is the top flight. S-tier cars are seriously fast, with blistering acceleration and eye-watering top speeds. They require precise control, as one wrong move can send you into a wall. S+ is the absolute pinnacle, featuring hypercars and racing monsters that push the limits of performance. Taming these beasts is the ultimate test of a driver's ability.

Success in Lakeshore City isn't just about owning the fastest car, it's about having the right car for the job. Your goal should be to acquire a competitive vehicle for each tier. That way, you're always ready to enter any event and fight for first place, no matter the performance bracket.
