Meta Business Manager

Your Business Command Center

Think of Meta Business Manager as the central office for all your company's activities on Facebook and Instagram. Instead of managing your business Page from your personal Facebook profile, Business Manager creates a separate, professional space. This keeps your personal and work life apart and makes it much safer to collaborate with others.

Using Business Manager is the standard for any business, big or small. It organizes your pages, ad accounts, and team members all in one secure location.

With this tool, you can grant partners or agencies access to your accounts without handing over your personal login information. You control who can do what, from posting on your Page to running ads. It’s all about security and streamlined management.

Setting Up Your Account

Creating an account is straightforward. First, make sure you're logged into your personal Facebook profile. Business Manager uses your personal profile to verify your identity, but no one will see your personal information.

  1. Go to business.facebook.com/overview.
  2. Click the “Create Account” button.
  3. Enter your business name, your name, and your work email address. Use an email you have access to, as Meta will send a verification link.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the setup. Check your inbox for the confirmation email and click the link to verify your account.

Adding Your Assets

Once your Business Manager is created, the first thing you'll want to do is connect your existing business assets. In Meta's terms, an "asset" is your Facebook Page, Instagram account, or ad account. Let's start with your Page and Instagram profile.

From your Business Manager dashboard, navigate to Business Settings. This is where you'll manage everything.

To add your Facebook Page:

  • In Business Settings, find the Accounts section and click on Pages.
  • Click the blue “Add” button. You’ll see three options. If you already own the Page, choose Add a Page.
  • Type in your Page name, and since you're already an admin, it will be added instantly.

To connect your Instagram account:

  • Still in Business Settings under Accounts, click Instagram Accounts.
  • Click “Add” and then “Connect your Instagram account.”
  • A new window will pop up asking you to log in with your Instagram username and password. For full functionality, your Instagram profile should be a Business or Creator account.

Assigning Roles

One of the biggest advantages of Business Manager is team collaboration. You can give team members, contractors, or agencies access to your assets without making them a friend on Facebook or sharing passwords.

To add a person:

  1. In Business Settings, go to the Users section and click People.
  2. Click the “Add” button.
  3. Enter the work email address of the person you want to invite. It's best to avoid personal emails.
  4. Choose the role you want to assign them. You can grant them Employee access or, for full control, Admin access. It’s wise to be cautious with Admin access.
  5. On the next screen, you'll assign them to specific assets. Select the Page or Instagram account you want them to work on and toggle the switches to grant permissions for specific tasks, like creating posts, responding to comments, or viewing performance insights.

When you're done, they'll receive an email invitation to join your Business Manager.

Always follow the principle of least privilege: only give people the minimum level of access they need to do their job. You can always change permissions later.

With your account set up, assets connected, and team members invited, you now have a centralized hub for all your Meta marketing efforts. Take some time to click around Business Settings to familiarize yourself with the layout. You'll see options for ad accounts, pixels, and catalogs, which are powerful tools you can explore as your business grows.
