The Smallest Start
Everything in geometry starts with a simple idea: the point. A point isn't a thing you can hold or measure. It’s just a location. Think of it as a specific spot on a map, but with no size at all. It has no length, no width, and no height. It just marks a position.
Point

A precise location or position in space. It has no dimension (no length, width, or height).
Since a point has no size, we can't truly see one. To show where a point is, we draw a small dot and give it a name, usually a capital letter like A, B, or C. This helps us talk about specific locations.
An Infinite Path
Now, what happens when you line up an infinite number of points right next to each other? You get a line. A line is a perfectly straight path that continues forever in two opposite directions. Like a point, a line has no thickness or width. It only has length, which is infinite.
A key rule in geometry is that through any two distinct points, there is exactly one line. You can't draw two different straight lines that both pass through the same two points.
We draw lines with arrows on both ends to show that they don't stop. A line can be named by any two points that are on it. For example, if points A and B are on a line, we can call it line AB. Sometimes, a single lowercase letter, like l, is used to name a line.
Points and lines are the fundamental building blocks of geometry. Every shape, angle, and complex figure you'll encounter is constructed from these two simple concepts. They provide the basic language we use to describe the space around us.
