Leverage Is Your New Weight

In calisthenics, you can't just add another plate to the bar. So how do you get stronger? The answer is to stop thinking about adding weight and start thinking about adding distance. By manipulating your body's position in space, you change the leverage, making the same exercise feel exponentially harder. This is the core principle of advanced bodyweight training: creating progressive overload not with more mass, but with better physics.

Torque: The Hidden Force

Every time you perform an exercise like a push-up or a front lever, you're fighting against torque. Torque is simply a rotational force. It’s what makes a wrench turn a bolt or a door swing on its hinges. It depends on two things: how much force you apply, and how far from the pivot point (the fulcrum) you apply it. This distance is called the moment arm.
