Five Biological Laws
The Five Biological Laws
German New Medicine, or GNM, reframes disease not as a malfunction, but as a meaningful biological process. It proposes that what we call diseases are actually 'Significant Biological Special Programs' set in motion to help an organism deal with a specific type of survival threat. This framework is built upon five core principles, known as the Biological Laws. Let's explore the first two, which establish the fundamental logic of the system.
The First Law: The Iron Rule
The First Law, called the Iron Rule of Cancer, lays out three criteria for the initiation of any of these special biological programs. First, every program begins with a (DHS). This isn't a syndrome in the typical medical sense, but a specific moment: an unexpected, highly acute, and isolating conflict shock. It’s the kind of event that catches you completely off guard and leaves you feeling alone in your distress.
The second criterion states that the specific nature of the conflict determines exactly where in the brain the shock registers. This impact is said to create a visible lesion on a CT scan, which Hamer called a (HH), and simultaneously determines which organ will be affected. For instance, a 'death-fright' conflict is said to impact the brain relay controlling the lung alveoli, while a 'starvation conflict' would affect the liver's brain relay.
Finally, the third criterion states that the process unfolds synchronously on three levels: the psyche (the emotional and psychological conflict), the brain (the Hamer Focus), and the corresponding organ. You can't have one without the other two. They are an interconnected, interdependent system.
The Second Law: Two Phases of Every Program
The Second Law states that every (SBS) unfolds in two distinct phases, as long as the initial conflict is resolved. Before the DHS occurs, the body is in a state of 'normotonia,' our normal day-night rhythm. The DHS shock abruptly shifts us into the first phase.
Phase 1: The Conflict-Active Phase (Sympathicotonia) Immediately following the DHS, the body enters a state of prolonged stress. This is the 'cold' phase, characterized by continuous sympathetic nervous system activity. Symptoms include cold hands and feet, loss of appetite, weight loss, sleep disturbances, and obsessive thinking about the conflict. Biologically, the body is in a fight-or-flight mode, dedicating all its energy to resolving the problem. At the organ level, this phase involves either cell proliferation (tumor growth), cell loss (necrosis or ulceration), or functional impairment, depending on the affected tissue.
Phase 2: The Healing Phase (Vagotonia) This phase begins only after the conflict is resolved (a moment GNM calls 'Conflictolysis'). The body shifts into a state of deep rest and recovery, dominated by the parasympathetic nervous system. This is the 'warm' phase, and it's often when people feel sick and seek medical attention. Symptoms include fatigue, fever, inflammation, swelling, and pain. These are not signs of a new disease, but of the body actively repairing the tissue that was altered during the conflict-active phase. This phase has its own mid-point crisis, called the 'epileptoid crisis,' a brief and intense flare-up of the initial conflict symptoms before recovery continues.
Understanding these first two laws provides the basic map of GNM. It posits a predictable, cause-and-effect relationship between a specific type of psychological shock and the biological changes that follow, framing disease as a two-part journey from conflict to resolution.
