Defining Our Leaders

The Country's Captain

Think about your school. Who is in charge of making sure all the teachers and students have what they need? The principal! A principal is the leader of the school.

Now, think bigger. Much bigger! The United States is like a giant team with millions of people. Just like a sports team has a captain or a school has a principal, the country has a leader too. That leader is called the President.

The President's job is to be a helper for the whole country. They help make sure everyone works together and follows the rules, which are called laws. Following these rules helps keep everyone safe and happy.
