Facebook Photo Monetization Mastery
Understanding Facebook's Content Monetization Program
A Simpler Way to Earn
Facebook has overhauled how creators earn money on the platform. Gone are the days of juggling separate programs like In-Stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and Performance Bonuses. As of August 31, 2025, all these older systems were phased out.
Now, there’s a single, unified system called the Content Monetization Program, or CMP. This program is designed to be a one-stop shop for monetizing your content.
Starting September 1, 2025, the Content Monetization Program (CMP) is the only way for creators to monetize content on Facebook.
The goal was to eliminate the confusion of different sign-up processes and eligibility rules for various content types. With CMP, you can earn money from a wide range of formats under one umbrella, including:
- Longer videos
- Reels
- Photo posts
- Text posts
- Stories
All earnings are now performance-based. This means your income is directly tied to how well your content performs with your audience, regardless of the format. A high-performing photo can now earn alongside a viral Reel.
How to Join
Currently, the Content Monetization Program is invite-only. Facebook is gradually sending invitations to eligible creators. The plan is to open public enrollment later in 2025.
If you receive an invitation, you can enroll in two ways:
- On mobile: Go to your Professional Dashboard and find the 'Monetization' tab.
- On desktop: Use the Meta Business Suite to find and complete the enrollment process.
Once enrolled, you're set up to monetize all eligible content formats through this single program.
New Rules for Quality Content
Alongside the new program, Meta has introduced stricter rules to combat low-quality or unoriginal content. Creators who frequently repost videos, photos, or text from other sources risk losing their monetization eligibility.
This is part of a broader crackdown on spammy behavior. Activities that can get you penalized include:
- Posting content you didn't create.
- Using hashtags in a misleading way to gain views.
- Using manipulated media or being part of a spam network.
Violating these policies won't just affect your ability to earn money. Facebook may also reduce the reach of your content, making it harder for people to see your posts.
