The core of the system is a set of flat, colorful plastic shapes with holes in them. Each shape represents a number from 1 to 10. The shape for 'one' is a small orange piece with one hole. The shape for 'two' is a slightly larger blue piece with two holes. The shape for 'ten' is the biggest, with ten holes arranged in a specific pattern.

The pattern of the holes is important. They are always in pairs, which helps children see the relationship between odd and even numbers. An even number like six has three neat pairs of holes. An odd number like seven has three pairs and one extra hole sticking out at the top.

The educational idea is simple: by associating each number with a unique shape and color, children build a mental picture of what numbers are and how they relate.
