What Is a Website?
A website is a collection of web pages and related content that is identified by a common domain name and published on at least one web server. Think of it like a book. The website is the entire book, the domain name is its title, and each web page is a chapter within it. All these chapters are linked together, allowing you to navigate from one to another seamlessly.
For example,
wikipedia.orgis a domain name. When you go there, you land on the homepage, which is just one of many web pages. From there, you can click links to access millions of other pages, all part of the same massive website.
These pages are made up of text, images, videos, and other digital assets. They are stored on special computers called web servers, which are connected to the internet. When you type a domain name into your browser, you're sending a request to that server, which then sends the website's data back to your device.
Purpose and Types
Websites exist for countless reasons. Some are for sharing information, like news sites or encyclopedias. Others are for selling goods and services, like online stores. Many are for building communities, like social media platforms. The purpose of a website dictates its type.

So, while both use similar technology, the key difference is access. The internet is for everyone, while an intranet is for a select group.
