Discussion

The Results section is often filled with visual elements that summarize data. Don't skip over them! They contain a huge amount of information in a compact format.
When you see a figure or table, always start with the title and caption. The caption is a short description that explains what the visual shows. Then, look at the labels. For a graph, what do the x-axis (horizontal) and y-axis (vertical) represent? What are the units of measurement? If there's a legend, what do the different colors or shapes mean?
By breaking down a visual element this way, you can understand the main finding it's trying to convey before even reading the authors' description in the text. This helps you form your own interpretation of the data.
