This decentralized and immutable ledger is what allows the network to agree on who owns what without needing a central authority to verify it. Everyone has the same record, so everyone is on the same page.

Cryptocurrencies function as digital assets that can be sent directly between two people online, anywhere in the world. Transactions are typically faster and cheaper than traditional international bank transfers because they cut out the intermediaries.

The private key is like your password or PIN, and it must be kept secret as it grants access to your funds.
