Shortcuts is a powerful app made by Apple that comes pre-installed on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Its purpose is simple: to automate the things you do every day.

Think of it as creating a custom 'play button' for a series of actions. Instead of opening one app, tapping three times, then opening another app to finish a task, you can create a shortcut that does it all for you with a single tap.

When you open the app, you'll see a few main sections. The interface is clean and designed to get you started quickly.

The main screen is My Shortcuts. This is your personal collection, where any shortcut you add or create will live. When you're just starting, this area might be empty.

The Automation tab lets you set up shortcuts that run automatically. For instance, you could have your phone switch to Do Not Disturb mode every time you arrive at the office. We'll explore this more later.

But the best place to begin is the Gallery.

The Gallery is a curated library of pre-made shortcuts. You don't need to know how to build anything to start using them. You can browse through categories like 'Essentials' or 'Morning Routine' to find automations that are useful to you.

When you find one you like, just tap it and select 'Add Shortcut'. It will immediately appear in your 'My Shortcuts' tab, ready to use. You can run it directly from the app, from your home screen as a widget, or by asking Siri.

Exploring the Gallery is the easiest way to understand what's possible with the app. It gives you a feel for how different actions can be chained together to save you time and effort.
