InnovAge is a multi-state PACE and LIFE organization, publicly traded on Nasdaq under INNV, headquartered in Denver. That last part—the Nasdaq piece—matters more than most candidates realize. Because it means this VP of Compliance is not just accountable to a CCO internally. There is a public company accountability layer sitting on top of everything. CMS oversight, state-level DHCS scrutiny in multiple states, and a board that expects a certain kind of fluency from the people managing enterprise compliance risk. This is not a single-organization seat. This is not a two-site seat. The role manages Regional Directors of Clinical Compliance, an Audit Management function, a Director of Facility Oversight, a Compliance Coordinator, augmented audit staff—and that VP reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and is expected to support her in fulfilling that board-facing oversight role. So when I say 'what's at stake here,' I mean it literally. This is a two-hundred to two-hundred-and-seventy-thousand-dollar seat with forty percent travel across multiple states and regulatory frameworks. Yeah, and I think—okay, so when I first read a description like that, there's this moment where your brain does two things simultaneously. One part of you is genuinely excited because you recognize the territory. PACE, dual Medicare-Medicaid, CMS Title 42, DHCS Title 22—these aren't abstractions to you, right, these are your actual daily operating environment. But the other part of your brain is doing this very fast, very anxious triage, scanning for the places where the job description and your resume don't line up perfectly. And what I want to name for people listening is that the anxiety isn't irrational. This role asks for eight to ten years of clinical compliance experience. It prefers an RN. It explicitly asks for three to five years managing enterprise-level teams—and 'enterprise-level' is doing a lot of work in that phrase. And forty percent travel across multiple states is not a small ask. So the stakes feel real because they are real. But here's what I've learned navigating this kind of thing: the gap between your actual experience and what looks like the gap on paper is almost never as wide as the anxiety makes it feel. The question is whether you can narrate your way across it with enough precision and enough confidence that the panel doesn't see a liability—they see a candidate who has already done the harder version of the thinking.
