The Three Segments of GPS
At its core, the (GPS) is divided into three distinct segments that constantly talk to each other to make positioning possible:

The entire operation hinges on a simple physics premise: distance equals velocity multiplied by time. Because the radio signals travel at the speed of light, if we can measure the exact travel time of a signal from a satellite to your phone, we can calculate the precise distance between them.
