To understand George Washington, it's best to start with the big picture. He is universally known as the "Father of His Country," a legendary who helped shape the United States from its very infancy.
What makes Washington truly unique are the three massive, distinct roles he played during the birth of the nation. He was the Commander-in-Chief of the during the long struggle for independence, the President of the Constitutional Convention where the nation's rules were written, and ultimately, the first President of the United States. Before all that, he was simply a young Virginian working as a surveyor and managing his family's plantation.
