To kick off our first topic, let's look at why Great Britain became the precise launchpad for industrialization rather than somewhere else in Europe or Asia. It came down to a unique alignment of geographic and financial factors. Britain sat right on top of vast, easily accessible deposits of and iron ore. Coal provided the dense energy needed to drive heavy machinery, while iron offered the structural material to build engines, tools, and factories. On top of that, Britain's geography was packed with navigable rivers and natural waterways, making inland transport of raw materials cheap and fast long before railways existed. High wages in Britain compared to the rest of the world also gave entrepreneurs a strong financial incentive to replace expensive human labor with machines, backed by deep capital from its expanding .
