Welcome! I'm really excited to dive into physics with you. It is the ultimate manual for how everything in our universe actually works, from the massive swirl of galaxies down to the tiny dance of subatomic particles.

Before we sketch out our path and start exploring, I'd love to learn a little bit about you so I can make this session as helpful and engaging as possible.

To kick things off, let's look at what physics actually is at its core. In the grandest sense, physics is the scientific study of , its motion through space and time, and how it interacts with energy and force. Think of it as looking at the universe and asking: What is this stuff made of, how does it move, and what pushes or pulls it around?

Let's zoom out and look at how this massive field is organized. Historically, physics is split into two giant eras: Classical Physics and Modern Physics.

The Great Divide: Classical vs. Modern

Think of as the physics of our everyday, human-scale world. It covers things we can easily see, touch, or intuition-check: a rolling bowling ball, a beam of light bouncing off a mirror, or the way magnets stick to a fridge. For centuries, these rules seemed absolute.
But around the turn of the 20th century, scientists started looking closer at the universe. When they zoomed in to the subatomic scale or looked at objects moving near the speed of light, classical physics completely broke down. This forced the creation of Modern Physics, which deals with the mind-bending rules of the extremely small, the extremely fast, and the extremely massive.
