Historically, healthcare software was built like medieval castles—isolated, proprietary, and highly defensive. Each vendor created custom databases to lock in customers, resulting in massive that fragmented the patient journey. When systems can't talk to each other, clinicians are forced to make life-or-death decisions with incomplete information, or rely on outdated workarounds like faxing records.

Our ultimate goal in product management has shifted from simply shipping data across a wire to ensuring that the receiving system can actually interpret and act on that data meaningfully.
