the platform ERP and FP&A toolset

what is ERP

To ace an interview at a private equity-backed company like Reprotech, mastering the underlying systems is a huge advantage. Let us break down exactly what these terms mean and how they apply directly to this Senior Financial Analyst role.

What is an ERP?

An ERP, or system, is a centralized software platform that integrates all of a company's core business processes into a single database. Instead of having separate systems for accounting, inventory, human resources, and customer billing that do not talk to each other, an ERP serves as the single source of truth.

For Reprotech and its business unit, the ERP—specifically Sage Intacct—is where all financial transactions are recorded, including billing, accounts receivable, and deferred storage revenue. Because reproductive specimens are stored for years, the ERP must carefully track cash collected upfront and recognize it as revenue slowly over time under strict accounting rules.

Understanding the FP&A Toolset

While an ERP is focused on recording historical transactions, an FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) toolset like is built for the future. These platforms plug directly into the ERP to pull historical data, allowing you to build budgets, model multi-year forecasts, track key performance indicators, and run scenario analyses with ease.

In this role, you will sit at the center of these two systems. A major part of your success during the first six months will involve closing the gap between operational billing systems and the Sage Intacct general ledger, making sure everything reconciles cleanly so executive leadership has accurate numbers for strategic decision-making.

what is datarails

DataRails is a financial planning and analysis platform designed specifically for mid-sized finance teams who want to modernize their workflows without giving up Excel. Instead of forcing you to learn a completely new, rigid software interface, DataRails acts as a cloud-based database that sits on top of your existing Excel spreadsheets.
The platform automatically pulls in transaction-level data from your ERP, such as Sage Intacct, and other operational systems. It consolidates these into a single, secure repository. This allows you to perform complex modeling, build rolling forecasts, and track KPIs in Excel while the system handles the data integrity, version control, and consolidation in the background.
In this Senior Financial Analyst role, DataRails is the tool you will use to automate the monthly Cryologix reporting packages. Instead of manually updating spreadsheets every month, you can use it to instantly generate variance narratives, build , and deliver the rapid, error-free reporting that private equity sponsors require.

Now that we have covered the key systems, let us tailor the rest of our practice to your background. To help us build your high-impact pitch and focus on the technical scenarios: what is your current professional background, and which specific areas of the job description would you like to focus on most?

SAP HANA is that similar

While SAP HANA and the Sage Intacct / DataRails stack are built to handle corporate finance, they are designed for completely different company scales and operational purposes.

Enterprise Giants vs. Nimble Mid-Market Stacks

is an enterprise-grade ERP designed for multi-billion dollar multinational conglomerates. It utilizes an in-memory database, meaning it processes massive volumes of transactions in real-time. It is highly robust but requires massive IT departments to maintain and customize.

By contrast, Sage Intacct is a highly agile, mid-market cloud general ledger preferred by fast-growing, companies. It excels at handling multi-entity consolidation and deferred revenue tracking without the massive overhead of SAP. DataRails then sits on top of Sage Intacct as a dedicated FP&A layer, giving analysts the flexibility to build reports and forecasts in Excel while securing the data in a central cloud database.

Translating Your SAP Experience to Reprotech

Your familiarity with SAP HANA is a massive selling point for this Senior Financial Analyst role. Having experience with an enterprise system means you already understand , general ledger architecture, and how operational transactions flow into financial statements. This systems literacy is exactly what you need to help Reprotech clean up the data flow between their billing software and general ledger.

Now that we have established your strong systems background, let us focus on translating this into a compelling story for your 30-minute interview. To help us build your tailored 90-second pitch, what is your current job title, and which specific areas of the Reprotech role would you like to focus on next?
