It's awesome to have you here! Let's start with a simple but mind-blowing fact: your heart is essentially a super-efficient, non-stop . Every single day, this fist-sized muscle beats about 100,000 times, sending roughly 5 liters of blood on a continuous loop through your body. Its main job is to act like a biological delivery service, squeezing and relaxing to generate the pressure needed to push blood forward. Without this constant squeezing, your organs wouldn't get the fresh oxygen and nutrients they need to keep you alive.

You got it! Let's take a look inside. Your heart is split right down the middle into a left side and a right side, creating a total of that work together like a highly coordinated team.
The two upper chambers are called the atria (singular: atrium), and the two lower chambers are called the ventricles. Think of the atria as the waiting rooms of the heart. They are smaller and have thin walls because they only need to receive incoming blood and drop it down into the ventricles. The ventricles, on the other hand, are the heavy lifters. They have thick, muscular walls because they are the actual power pumps responsible for squeezing and launching blood out of the heart and into the body's vast network of blood vessels.
