The , developed by the University of Oxford and the Serum Institute of India, is a technological masterpiece designed to stop the deadly parasite before it can ever make a child sick.

How R21 Outsmarts the Parasite

To understand how R21 works, we have to look at the complex lifecycle of the parasite. When an infected mosquito bites a human, it injects the parasite in a form called a sporozoite into the bloodstream. These sporozoites travel rapidly to the liver to mature and multiply.
