Chemistry

Welcome! I'm so excited to explore the world of chemistry with you, but before we dive into how the universe is put together, I'd love to learn a little bit more about you.

Could you tell me a little bit about why you want to learn chemistry, and if you have any previous experience with it (like in school or as a hobby)?

I have some basic background but want to brush up on the essentials.

It is great to have you here! Since you already have some background, we can skip the absolute basics and focus on rebuilding a strong, intuitive foundation.

The Gateway to Chemistry

To kick things off, let's look at what actually is. If you ask a textbook, it will tell you that chemistry is the study of matter and the changes it undergoes. But let's make that a lot more concrete.

Think of chemistry as the ultimate cosmic recipe book. Everything you can touch, breathe, see, or eat is made of the exact same basic ingredients. Chemists are simply the cooks who want to know what those ingredients are, how they behave on their own, and what happens when we mix them together.
