Welcome to the world of the flute! Producing your very first note is one of the most exciting milestones because the flute is unique—unlike most wind instruments, you don't put the mouthpiece inside your mouth. Instead, you blow across it, much like making a sound by blowing over the top of an empty glass bottle.
