I want to become an expert Autocad user for architectural drawing preparation. I am currently working on a project and i am converting a HSB structure from the registration drawings into a steel structure. I am prepraring preliminary drawing set to share with architect/engineer

That is a major project, and converting timber framing to structural steel is a highly valuable skill for coordinating with architects and engineers. Before we dive into the drafting strategies, setup, and conversion workflows, I have a quick question to help me tailor this session perfectly to your current setup.

What version of AutoCAD are you currently using, and what format are your original HSB timber registration drawings in (for example, are they a DWG, a vector PDF, or paper/scanned image files)?

I have AutoCAD 2024 and the drawings are vector PDFs

Welcome! Since you're working with AutoCAD 2024 and vector PDFs, we can leverage some incredibly efficient, modern conversion techniques to save you days of manual tracing.

Before we build our roadmap, I'd love to understand your current experience with a few specific AutoCAD features so we can pitch this at the perfect level.

What is your experience level with AutoCAD tools like PDFIMPORT, layer standards, and structural steel blocks or member detailing?
