Classifying is such a fun, hands-on topic to teach! In 4th grade, students move beyond just naming shapes and start analyzing three primary geometric criteria:

  1. Number of Sides & Vertices: Grouping shapes as triangles (3), quadrilaterals (4), pentagons (5), hexagons (6), or octagons (8).
  2. Types of Angles: Checking if the shape contains right, acute, or obtuse interior angles.
